STEVE AND HIS TEAM at Goodies have a very simple goal - to create the Number One restaurant in Batam for Western Expatriate residents of the island, visitors from  other countries and for local Indonesian residents who appreciate fine food and outstanding service.

There is a growing band of regular diners who would say that they already have succeeded. Goodies offers a choice of Western International dining, home-style favourites, Indonesian and Asian specialties, Italian pasta and pizzas, popular snacks, soups and salads, all-day breakfasts, and (unusually for Batam) a selection of classic desserts.

Goodies began as a dining venue for short-stay visitors and long term residents at Smiling Hill. But it quickly became clear that the magic poolside setting and the ambiance created by the Bali-style treatment of the pool surrounds lent itself to further development as a public restaurant for people looking for somewhere special to dine.

The kitchen has been remodelled to increase its capacity and additional chefs and preparation staff engaged to allow more meals of a higher standard to be produced more quickly. New menus have been created and the staff trained to prepare and serve the new dishes.

The pavilion area at the Pool has been remodelled as a dedicated restaurant space surrounded by a an attractive water feature.

Now diners have a choice of popular Western and International fare and a wide range of Indonesian and other Asian cuisines expertly prepared and presented.

Goodies is becoming a popular venue for special corporate dinner parties, birthdays and other special occasions as well for regular dining. The restaurant is open from 7.30am until 9.30pm with many regulars starting their day with a Goodies Western-style breakfast or making a quick trip to Smiling Hill to enjoy a business or social luncheon.
